Trawlermen Tales S01E01 HDTV x264-C4TV
The Catch was one of the best documentary series of last year and Trawlermen Tales sails the same waters – in every sense. But it focuses heavily on the fishermen’s domestic lives, which for a television audience is the least interesting aspect of being a trawlerman. For instance, I really don’t want to go on a trip to Mothercare in Truro with an expectant first mate and his partner. And yet here we are, looking at pushchairs. Fishing is cold, hard and dangerous, and was viscerally evoked in The Catch, but what we have here is a sanitised version (no bad language!) with a curious lack of heart.
Season 01 , Episode 01 --
Cameras follow Cornish trawlermen as they risk their lives to catch fish. They include Scott, who gets life changing news - he's going to be a father. Meanwhile, Alan's daughter Merryn tries to stop him going to sea by hiding his boat keys, and after 14 years, Claire and Dale get married. Sean Bean narrates.
