Phil Spencer catches up with three house-hunters with two very different needs, but one shared goal. In 2018, schoolteacher Katy, her comedian husband Charlie, baby daughter Lola, and pet pooch Harper were on the hunt for their first family home in Brighton. Having moved in with Katy’s mum to save for a deposit, they had not only grown used to home comforts, but also the vibrant village atmosphere of pricey Fiveways – an area where their property dreams didn’t match their budget. With Phil’s help they widened the net, viewing four fantastic finds in and around Brighton. Two years later, Phil’s back to see whether life on the coast has been plain sailing. And in 2019, Kirstie was scouring east London with `granny on the go” Janet. Having been diagnosed with a degenerative back condition, Janet was desperate to ditch her lift-less, third storey flat in exchange for a ground-floor forever home. The tricky east London property market was proving tough to navigate though, and Kirstie soon found out about Janet’s hidden desire for a project. One year on, Phil’s eager to see if she got her wish.
