After all the heats, the quarters and the semi-finals, plus the kneading, the mixing, the icing, the piping, the proving and the tasting – it all comes down to this. This is where it all ends. Our four finalists have to bake like they’ve never baked before as they face the final challenge – creating a tiered, layered show-stopping enchanted woodland-themed cake, in just two and a half hours. Like last night the temperature in the tent is rising and the finalists need to wake up to bake their best version of a pizza and show some wild heart to the mystery visitors.The judges Graham Hornigold and Allegra McEvedy aren’t making it easy for the finalists in the technical challenge as they set the bakers extremely tough rough puff pastry pinwheel pastries.

First there were 40 and now only six bakers remain. It’s the semi-final of Junior Bake Off, and those still standing have to go into baking battle to win a place in the final. Sam and Mark host as the judges Allegra McEvedy and Graham Hornigold examine the bakers’ knowledge with a series of tough technical tests. Will they be able to replicate Graham’s fine piping skills? Will any of them be able to spot and rectify the deliberate mistake in Allegra’s blueberry muffins? Can they identify five different types of pastry? If they survive this they get to show off their sculpting skills, as well as their baking prowess, by creating show-stopping bread buns in the shapes of animals, but just four bakers will go forward to the final. Who will bake their way to success?

Sam and Mark host as the second batch of quarter-finalists enter the Bake Off tent to face judges Graham Hornigold and Allegra McEvedy. Each of the five young hopefuls competing for the last three places in the semi-final must produce one of Allegra’s recipes for a meringues-en-bouche – a wedding centrepiece where they are required to make over a hundred multi-coloured meringues. All against the clock. Their pastry-making skills are also fully tested with show-stopping mini tarts which must have a scary theme.
