Judge Robert Rinder steps out from behind the bench to examine two more real-life cases. 19-year-old hairstylist Hollie Gazzard met Asher Maslin and fell madly in love. When he began exhibiting controlling behaviour and threatening her, she ran back to her family. In February 2014, Hollie was working at a busy salon in Gloucester when Asher entered and murdered her in front of a group of witnesses then fled. The second case took place in December 2000, when Mary Turner Thompson met William Jordan online. After months of suspicious behaviour, William told Mary that he was a secret agent for the CIA. Only after Mary and William were married and had two children did she discover that he was lying about his job, was also a bigamist and had managed to swindle nearly 200,000 pounds from her.

In the first episode, Judge Rinder examines the case of Laura Davies who was murdered by her 22-year-old boyfriend Jordan Taylor. Jordan was an unemployed martial arts enthusiast with a temper and Laura’s family knew that something wasn’t right. When Laura tried to end the relationship, she ran out the house and a passer-by witnessed her murder. It also reveals the case of Andreas Christopheros who was attacked at his own home when a beaker of sulphuric acid was thrown into his face, while his wife Pia and their 18-month-old son slept in the next room. While doctors battled to save Andreas’ life, it was down to the Devon & Cornwall police to catch the man who was responsible and find out why.
