Sumatra to Australia
Simon's final part of the journey starts on the northern tip of Sumatra, near the epicentre of the 2004 Tsunami. He then makes his way to the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, where he finds out more about the shocking trade in exotic pets and meets a group who are attempting to save one of the country’s most bizarre species, the slow loris. Australia is the final destination of his journey, and site of one of the world’s greatest and most unspoilt wildernesses, the Kimberley.

Sri Lanka to Bangladesh
Simon takes a look around the island of Sri Lanka, which has for centuries been a target for invaders and colonisers. In the north of the island he takes a look around the scene of vicious battles between fighters from the Tamil minority and the Sri Lankan army. He also learns about one of the Indian Ocean’s fastest growing industries which is providing prawns for the West. Just off the coast of India Simon travels on a prawn trawler, one of thousands which drag their nets along the Indian Ocean floor. He finishes this leg of his journey on the beaches of Chittagong.

Oman to the Maldives
Simon's journey takes him from Oman to the Maldives this week. He begins in the Strait of Hormuz, where oil from the gulf is taken through the narrow channel out into the Indian Ocean, and on to Mumbai, the region's biggest port. In the Maldives, Simon discovers the most beautiful collection of tropical coral islands in the world.

Indian Ocean With Simon Reeve follows Simon as he travels to the Indian Ocean, where he uncovers different stories from some of the world’s most remote, dangerous and beautiful locations.

Episode 1:
Simon begins his adventure on the tip of South Africa, joining conservationists struggling to save the little-known and highly endangered African Penguin. After moving along the coast he meets the South African authorities using high speed boats to track poachers targeting a sea creature called Abalone. During his first ocean dive, Simon swims with huge and fearsome-looking ragged tooth sharks. He then takes a ride on a container ship travelling to the glorious coast of Mozambique, where he accompanies local fisherman as they land a huge bull shark in their small boat.
