Franchise Hockey Manager 11-TENOKE

Release Description:

The Franchise Hockey Manager series returns for its 11th version in 2024-25, with new additions that will further expand on the most authentic hockey strategy gaming experience you can find.

Choose one of dozens of leagues around the world and select a team to guide to glory, including a chance at the ultimate prize: FHM11 is licensed by the NHL®, allowing you to take the reins of your favorite franchise to capture the Stanley Cup®.  Or, take control of a national team and try for international supremacy.

You can also choose a historical game, where you can begin in any year in NHL® history, play in a legendary international tournament, or (new this year) play in a historical minor league.

if you'd like to create your own customized league, you can do that, and FHM11 brings international play to that mode as well.  If you've been playing FHM10 and can't bear to part with your team, import the save into FHM11 and carry on with the addition of FHM11's new features.

However you choose to play, you have control of your team and can oversee finances, select strategies, hire your staff, make trades, sign free agents, and draft the newest generation of stars as you try to build a championship team - and then make it into a dynasty!

All new for Franchise Hockey Manager 11:

  • International play has been added to custom games; the makeup of the international tournaments will adapt to the way you've set up your custom league(s)

  • Playable minor league hockey has been added to historical mode, starting with the full history (including all players) of the American Hockey League from 1940 to the present

  • Many improvements have been made to the AI trading behaviour; the AI will now draw from a bigger library of potential trade models, and some loopholes in the existing trading logic have been closed

  • Similarly, the transfer system AI in Europe has also had some significant improvements of the same type the trading AI received

  • The NHL's new 4Nations Faceoff Tournament has been added to modern games

  • Owner goals have been added: your owner will ask you to make changes to your team; failing to comply may put your job in jeopardy, but keeping the owner happy will help you stay employed

  • Additionally, job security mechanics have undergone a major revision and should feel more realistic now

  • Development tracking has been added for your players, so you can see how they're progressing

  • Coaches can now have specific tactical preferences and will be more effective when employing their preferred tactic(s) (and they'll use them more often)

  • Major adjustments have been made to the pool of younger players in the database at the start of the game, to fix the growing issue of there being too many NHL-caliber young players in the early years of the game

  • Long-term player generation has also been adjusted to improve the top end quality of new prospects; combined with the above database change, the overall talent level should be maintained at a much smoother level over the course of the game

  • We've improved the 2D engine's play execution logic to build upon the play calling improvements in the previous two versions, so teams tend to stick with their set play execution longer, and also made a major change to the passing mechanics to allow for more use of indirect passing

  • New league reports, including (among other things) a Demographics report for the league and a review of Draft Sleepers/Busts from past drafts

  • The AI's roster management in the period between the playoffs and the start of a new year has been improved, particularly in how it grasps the roster changes that will happen on July 1 due to things like losing free agents

  • Playoff series will now get a preview in the news

  • As always, complete team and player updates for the new 2024-25 season, as well as smaller changes like a mid-season award candidate preview and "Exceptional" status in the Major Junior leagues, new interface additions, and many other improvements!

Franchise Hockey Manager 10-SKIDROW

Release Description:

Celebrating ten years with our fans, The Franchise Hockey Manager series returns for the 2023-24 season with plenty of new additions to the deepest, most authentic hockey strategy gaming experience you can find.

Choose one of dozens of leagues around the world and select a team to guide to glory, including a chance at the ultimate prize: FHM 10 is licensed by the NHL®, allowing you to take the reins of your favorite franchise to capture the Stanley Cup®. Take control of a national team and try for international supremacy. Choose a historical game, where you can begin in any year in NHL® history, or play in a legendary international tournament. Or if you'd like to create your own customized league, you can do that as well! Or if you've been playing FHM9 and can't bear to part with your team, import the save into FHM10 and carry on with the addition of FHM10's new features.

However you choose to play, you have control of your team and can oversee finances, select strategies, hire your staff, make trades, sign free agents, and draft the newest generation of stars as you try to build a championship team - and then make it into a dynasty!

All new for Franchise Hockey Manager 10:

  • Big custom league changes: promotion/relegation systems can now be included in custom leagues, and we've added the ability to import leagues directly from our databases into a custom game, including many leagues that aren't normally playable. Historical and single-team importing is included as well, so you can build a league from the greatest teams in history, or put together a modern superleague.
  • Gain more control with our reworked trade system – you can now specify your team needs and search for players that fit them, and the player shopping system has been entirely reworked with a new interface and options.
  • Media management has been added to the game - the local media will now cover your team, but won't shy away from criticism, and you may find yourself having to defend your players that find themselves in the spotlight. But be careful what you say - if the media turns on you, your job security may be jeopardized!
  • 2D mode follows up last year's special teams improvements with refinements to breakout and neutral zone play.
  • Historical mode now extends back to 1909 with the addition of the National Hockey Association! Go back to the dawn of professional hockey and see the rise of legendary franchises, complete with six skaters on the ice with the addition of the rover position.
  • Also in historical mode, you can now start a game as a historical expansion team with the real expansion draft in their first year - no need to go back and replay the previous season first, you can begin by choosing from the exact players that were available to the team in their debut season.
  • Last year we introduced American college hockey to FHM, this year we've added the Canadian version! 35 Canadian universities are now playable, including the playoffs and national championship tournament. And on the American side, teams now need to contend with the transfer portal - if you can't keep your players happy and supplied with enough icetime, they'll be able to move elsewhere!
  • New scouting options include the ability to scout tournaments, which now include a large number of new youth tournaments. Scout rising superstars through their early years before making your claim to them!
  • Kick off the preseason with a Prospect Tournament to get to know your up-and-coming players and see how they perform against the best young players in the rest of your league!
  • Interface improvements make it easier to access information about your players, including a new contract quality indicator and a quick option to review your team's stats.
  • Awards have been revamped with a large number of new player award options, and historical mode now includes accurate date ranges for each award.
  • Improvements in the player development routines now produce a more realistic pool of players as the years go by.
  • Playoff scheduling has been improved with series alternating days so the playoff hockey never takes a break!
  • As always, complete team and player updates for the new 2023-24 season.
  • In addition to all of that, there are the usual large variety of smaller changes, tweaks, and other improvements!

Franchise Hockey Manager 9 v9.4.107-SKIDROW

Release Description:

It's time for some World Class Hockey!

The Franchise Hockey Manager series returns for the 2022-23 season with plenty of new additions to the deepest, most authentic hockey strategy gaming experience you can find.

Choose one of dozens of leagues around the world and select a team to guide to glory, including a chance at the ultimate prize: FHM 9 is licensed by the NHL®, allowing you to take the reins of your favorite franchise to capture the Stanley Cup®. Take control of a national team and try for international supremacy. Choose a historical game, where you can begin in any year in NHL® history right back to the beginning in 1917, or play in a legendary international tournament. Or if you'd like to create your own customized league, you can do that as well! Or if you've been playing FHM8 and can't bear to part with your team, import the save into FHM9 and carry on with the addition of FHM9's new features.

However you choose to play, you have control of your team and can oversee finances, select strategies, hire your staff, make trades, sign free agents, and draft the newest generation of stars as you try to build a championship team - and then make it into a dynasty!

All new for Franchise Hockey Manager 9

  • College hockey is here! American college teams are now playable, allowing you to run one of over 60 Division I teams. Since college hockey has some unique challenges, we've added a number of special mechanics to college team management, including a unique player recruitment system, details like managing scholarships and academic eligibility, qualification for the postseason tournament, and more.
  • Injury Deferral: you can now choose to defer injury treatment for some types of injuries until after the season ends. That will let you keep the injured player in the lineup with reduced performance and a risk of making the injury worse. That will allow you to keep the player in the lineup for key games at the end of the year or in the playoffs, but you'll need to balance that against the possibility of getting the player healthy as soon as possible. And the impact of serious injuries on a player's ratings has been beefed up, so major injuries now have a bigger chance of derailing a player's career.
  • The team harmony system has been completely redesigned: "problem" players will now potentially create many more headaches for their General Manager, who'll have to keep a careful eye on their team as off-ice incidents can lead to player conflicts and the formation of divisive factions that can send player morale plummeting.
  • New All-Star Games: we've added all-star games (in multiple formats) to leagues outside the NHL, as well as older formats (like the defending champion playing the rest of the league's all-stars) for the NHL in historical mode.
  • International play in historical mode has been expanded with the addition of the World Junior Championships tournaments, allowing you to replay all the historical tournaments going back to 1974.
  • Bonuses can now be included in player contracts, using the the real NHL bonus mechanics.
  • Historical mode now includes pre-set injuries and suspensions, so players who were injured or suspended at the beginning of your first season will begin the game like that - no more unrealistically 100% healthy lineups.
  • 2D mode has received some improvements, including the addition of some set-play mechanics, particularly on the power plays, so you can see your offensive tactics unfolding as you intended. We've also introduced some new internal mechanics to make player movement look a little more smooth and natural.
  • We've made a number of interface improvements, particularly on the player screens, to make data easier to find with fewer clicks, and fix some omissions and inconsistencies.
  • The Tactics screen will now provide much better feedback on whether or not the players in your lineup (or individual lines) are a good fit for your chosen tactics.
  • Trading now includes a "Make this Work" option that will instantly tell you which player(s) you can add to a deal to get the opposing general manager to accept it.
  • Players with No Trade and No Movement clauses now have individualized lists, displayed with their contract data, of which teams they're willing to waive their clause for, allowing them to be traded.
  • Traded draft picks can now be given Protected status, which will defer the pick to the following season if it's higher than a specified level - so you can trade away your first rounder but be secure in the knowledge that you won't have thrown away the #1 overall pick if your season ends in disaster. Of course, Protected picks won't be worth quite as much as a regular one...
  • The AI will now more actively seek to trade its players if they're holding out for a new contract. Additionally, it will also weigh players' off-ice attributes more heavily when evaluating their trade value - teams may now be a little more reluctant to take a difficult player off your hands.
  • Owner expectations will now be a little more detailed, including a long-term outlook that will give you an idea of how the owner sees the team progressing next season. The season outlook mechanics for AI-run teams have also been upgraded, allowing the team to go into a more aggressive Win-Now or Rebuild modes.
  • World Championships roster AI has been adjusted to reflect the large number of players, particularly Canadians and Americans, who opt not to participate in the tournament. So, the Canadian and American teams will no longer dominate the tournament with a group of all-star NHLers.
  • Some improvements have been made to stat presentation in player histories and popups: histories now include seasonal averages over the course of the player's career, and the popups show stat projections for the current season.
  • Player who have been recently acquired now have a 60-day cooldown period before the "shop player" option can be used for them.
  • All staff in a league can now be released at once on the League Edit screen (in addition to the existing option to release all players.)
  • The rule that attaches temporary no-movement clauses to players acquired via waivers can now be deactivated in the game options.
  • KHL players can now buy out their own contracts if they get an NHL offer, making them easier - but potentially more expensive - for the NHL teams to sign.
  • In addition to all of that, there are the usual large variety of smaller and internal changes, tweaks, database changes, and interface improvements!

Take control of a national team and try for international supremacy. Choose a historical game, where you can begin in any year in NHL® history right back to the beginning in 1917. However you choose to play, you have control of your team and can oversee finances, select strategies, hire your staff, make trades, sign free agents, and draft the newest generation of stars as you try to build a championship team - and then make it into a dynasty!FHM7: Live Every Moment.

All new for Franchise Hockey Manager 7:

  • 2D Game Engine: Our game simulation has been rebuilt from the ground up, and now shows games in a top-down, fully-animated view that lets you see every second of the action!
  • Historical International Tournaments: International games have been added to historical play, so you can control a team in legendary events like the 1972 Summit Series and the Miracle on Ice in 1980. We've also added a large number of non-NHL players to the historical database, so if you want to see what the cold war-era NHL would've looked like with the stars of the Soviet bloc added, that's now possible.
  • More Customization for Custom Leagues: We've made the custom league setup much more flexible - you can now add as many leagues as you want, all of them fully customizable. The playoff editor also has a new custom configuration option in addition to the pre-set default systems.
  • Redesigned Scouting System: The scouting interface has been simplified and made a little more visually appealing with the addition of maps showing the coverage your team (and individual scouts) have. Scouting reports have also been changed to provide more useful and relevant information, and Scouting Levels now include an estimate of the player's likelihood of reaching his potential.
  • Reworked Draft Screen: Mock drafts, a draft review, and scout recommendations have been added. Additionally, we've moved the draft dates in modern and custom games - they now occur in early July, as they do in historical, which allows expansion teams to participate in them during their first season.
  • Configurable Historical Evolution: When when you opt to turn on historical editing, you can now specify if you want changes like league foundings/closures, team expansion and deactivation, and rule changes to continue as they did historically or not, in any configuration you want.
  • More Farm Team Control: If you want more control over your farm team, you can now have direct control over their depth charts and staff hiring.
  • Schedule Editing: A long-requested feature, schedules can now be exported for editing, and then re-imported.
  • Waiver and Intraleague Drafts: The beloved Waiver Draft has been added to historical play in the years it existed, along with its predecessor, the Intraleague Draft. Additionally, both are also available as options that can be activated for any other type of league.
And that's only the beginning! Other significant changes and additions include:

  • Reworked the news screen to show more headlines and flag personal messages and those which need a reply.
  • Real-life full-career stats are now included on the player screens in historical mode, so you can see if a player is matching his real performance...or cheat a little, if you want to see how a potential draft pick really turns out.
  • A team search tab has been added to the player and staff search.
  • Various international upgrades: national teams run by the user no longer clear rosters after tournaments end, so you don't need to rebuild them, international staff histories are now recorded, and we've made various UI improvements and fixes to get the international screens working a little better.
  • The continue button now alerts to you to upcoming events like drafts and trade deadlines.
  • Database improvements like significantly expanded international stats histories for players, award histories for most leagues, and more
  • The success of a national team now has an effect on the quality of new players generated by that country.
  • Players can now be designated as Untouchable if you don't want to get trade offers for them, and players on other teams can be flagged as "Not Interested" if you don't want them to be included in trade offers to you.
  • The Aging attribute had been split into Aging and a new attribute, Development Rate to make our modelling of player career arcs more flexible.
  • Roster AI has received a number of adjustments, mainly in the area of how the AI determines player value; most of these are designed to take advantage of systems (line chemistry, etc.) that didn't exist when the last major roster AI revision was done. AI teams' free agent-signing behaviour has also been improved.
  • The player search screen's filter now allows minimum ratings scores to be included in the filter criteria.-We've made some database and player generation changes to significantly reduce the memory usage of long-term leagues, allowing much better long-term game performance for users with limited RAM.
  • Many new things are editable on the player, team, and league screens - contract settings, favourites, foreign player restrictions, among others.
  • Boxscores can now be exported as csv files.
  • The later years of historical player data got a lot of re-work, fixing some inaccuracies and significantly adding to the number of post-2010 players who haven't made the NHL yet
In addition to all of that, there are the usual large variety of smaller and internal changes, tweaks, database changes, interface improvements, and the 20-21 team and player updates!
