Shakespeare’s Mother The Secret Life of a Tudor Woman PDTV x264-JIVE
Historian and broadcaster Michael Wood charts the story of Mary Arden, the mother of William Shakespeare. Born during the reign of Henry VIII, she was the daughter of a Warwickshire farmer, and found herself part of the burgeoning middle class in Stratford-upon-Avon following her marriage to wool and hide dealer John Shakespeare. Together, they had eight children – three of whom died young – and her husband went on to become mayor before he was declared bankrupt, and they financial ruin, religious persecution and power politics – until they were rescued by their eldest son William.
