When he began exhibiting controlling behaviour and threatening her, she ran back to her family. The second case took place in December 2000, when Mary Turner Thompson met William Jordan online. After months of suspicious behaviour, William told Mary that he was a secret agent for the CIA. Only after Mary and William were married and had two children did she discover that he was lying about his job, was also a bigamist and had managed to swindle nearly 200,000 pounds from her.
