Steve and Becky are young, unemployed and lazy. All they want to do is eat, drink and have sex – so they do. They don’t want to get a job – so they don’t. Lazing around in Steve’s bedsit, Steve [Russell Tovey] and Becky [Sarah Solemani] are happy to spend their days achieving nothing. Except watching DVDs. And playing on Xbox. And constantly teasing each other. But people are always there to interrupt them, be it Dan – the lonely bloke from upstairs, Laura and Paul – Becky’s sister and her fiancé or, most frightening for Steve, Becky’s parents. Steve wants to be alone with the one girl he’s found he’s mad about. That feeling you get when … you’re young and … you know? The more he likes her, the more desperate he gets. It bubbles away inside him till it explodes, in the series finale, after a big, drunken night out. Him & Her is an anti-romantic comedy. It lifts the lid on love as it really is – warts and all – with farts, bickering and toast.
Episode 5: The Parents - It’s a Sunday and Becky and Steve are bored. Their fridge is broken and Becky’s parents are coming round to fix it. Steve’s never met them before. He’s terrified. When they arrive, he’s over-friendly and frankly a bit odd. Matters are only made worse by Dan, who’s audibly enjoying himself upstairs with his new girlfriend, Paris. At least he says she’s his girlfriend.
