Season 1, Episode 1 – ”50 Children: The Rescue Mission of Mr. and Mrs. Kraus”
Gilbert and Eleanor Kraus, a Jewish couple from Philadelphia, jump through numerous legal, logistical and political hoops in their attempt to transport 50 Jewish youngsters from Nazi-controlled Vienna to the U.S. in 1939. The film features recollections by the surviving children, and Mamie Gummer reads from the memoir of Eleanor Kraus. Alan Alda narrates.
