It is a story about life at the transition, between the last wild natural landscapes and the human shaped cultural areas.

Mighty mountain backdrops, clear lakes, mysterious moors, in between fertile fields, old orchards and idyllic vineyards, all embedded in a gentle hilly landscape. The foothills of the Alps combine rugged mountain landscapes with vast plains. Hardly anywhere else in Central Europe do wilderness and civilization come so close. Nature filmmaker Patrick Centurioni shows the unknown sides of the Alpine foothills in his new "Universum" documentary "Gentle Mountains, Wild Marshes". The film was made as a co-production of ORF, NDR doclights, ARTE and Centurioni Images in cooperation with ORF-Enterprise.
