Emily Owens, M.D. follows Emily (Mamie Gummer) who is fresh out of med school and is now a first-year intern at Denver Memorial Hospital, where she'll have the chance to work with world-famous cardiologist Dr. Gina Beckett (Necar Zadegan). Emily works along side her med-school crush, Will Rider (Justin Hartley), and her high school nemesis, the gorgeous, popular Cassandra Kopelson (Aja Naomi King).

Desperate to shake her geeky girl high school persona, Dr. Emily Owens couldn't be happier to star work as an intern at Denver Memorial Hospital. Much to her dismay, she discovers that her new workplace and her old high school environment have much more in common than she originally thought.
