The Great Chelsea Garden Challenge is a competition that follows six amateur garden designers as they battle it out to win the biggest prize in gardening which is to design and build a garden feature on Main Avenue at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015.
Season 01, Episode 01 – “Cottage Gardens″
Six people are invited to compete in a garden-designing contest, with the winner being given a chance to plot and build a garden on Main Avenue at the Chelsea Flower Show 2015. For their first challenge, the designers have four days and £1,500 to build cottage gardens in the grounds of Harlow Carr, North Yorkshire. They will need to impress RHS judge James Alexander-Smith and the gold medal-winning gardener, Ann-Marie Powell to avoid being sent home. At the end of the competition, one person will win the career-changing opportunity to apply their horticultural flair to a patch on the Main Avenue at the 2015 Chelsea Flower Show. Season 01, Episode 02 – “Formal Gardens″
Joe Swift takes the remaining designers to the grounds of Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, where they have to create formal gardens to impress RHS judge James Alexander Sinclair and award-winning garden designer Ann-Marie Powell. They have a mere four days to showcase their design skills and have to include a two metre high piece of topiary they shaped from yew hedge.
